I do not know the answer to this, but wanted to comment.  Anytime new
research is done, this does not mean we should necessarily change practice.
 Every study needs to be replicated many times, under different conditions,
with different populations, etc. before standards of practice would change.
 That is why it is so important to do research many times.  So many
practitioners want to develop a whole new study, some unique thing, when it
would be so beneficial to replicate another study using a different
population or just in a different area of country/world.  Based on this, I
would expect the exam to go with the reference books, altho the applicant may
be expected to know what is going on with some current research.
