Hi everyone! Here is the text of the ad in the July/August Mothering
magazine p. 51.
"He has mother's brains." (picture of 8 month old (?) baby at the
computer)
"Visit Dr. Sears at www.dhadoc.com to learn why taking Neromins DHA helps
your baby's brain and eyes develop.
DHA, an omega-3 fat, is the main building material of the brain and
retina. Normally, your baby gets DHA from you during pregnancy and through
your breast milk after birth. However, today's low fat diets favor foods
that are low in DHA, leaving many women and their babies with less than ideal
DHA levels. That's why it's so smart for pregnant and breastfeeding moms to
make Neuromins DHA part of their diet. This point is confirmed by Dr. Sears,
a renowned pediatrician and author of The Baby Book. Neuromins is derived
from an all-natural plant source, which makes it a safe and pure form of DHA.
In fact, Neuromins DHA is considered so safe, and so important for brain and
eye development, that it's added to infant formulas in over 60 countries...
but not yet in the US. To chat with Dr. Sears and learn more about how
Neuromins DHA gives your baby a healthy "head start", visit our web site at
www.dhadoc.com. After all, doesn't every mom want "brains" to run in the
family?"

I was shocked that this ad seems to imply that mom's own breastmilk will
not produce adequate DHA for brain and eye development! I can't believe this
is Dr. Sears ad!!! Are there actual studies that prove that breastmilk is so
inferior that we all need to take DHA supplements! And the formula
part...ARGHHH! I can see people thinking no, don't breastfeed get that
foreign formula with DHA added in if I want a smart baby, breastmilk must not
have enough.
