Inverted nipples do not necessarily cause problems for breastfeeding,
and I have many mothers who came through our clinic who breastfed fine
on inverted nipples.  They don't make the process easy, but they don't
make it impossible either.

Furthermore, breast tissue changes during the weeks after birth and
what at first seemed impossible often becomes very possible.

I would wait until after this baby to see about the surgery.
Obviously if the nipples come out with breastfeeding, no need for
surgery.

I was in contact with one mother who had some surgery to make pointy
nipples.  She asked if she would produce enough milk.  Anyhow, she did
and was very thankful I encouraged her, though, truthfully, I had no
idea. Of course, this does not mean that the surgery doesn't muck
things up for some mothers.  Also depends on the skill of the surgeon,
and if he is trying to make "nice" nipples, or is also keeping in mind
the function of breasts when he does the surgery.
