Dear Friends:

When the mother watches her newborn, she will get the answers to her
questions.

The baby nurses on one side....comes off. The mother then has to keep her
newborn close to her and wait for the next feeding cues. Will the cues come
in 10 minutes, or in 2 hours? No one knows with a newborn. That's the
mother's job, to watch and learn.

There's no need to pump the other side. It will get its turn to be used.

As for foremilk and hindmilk.....we know there is foremilk (a sample of milk
taken out before the feed OR milk at the beginning of the feed) and hindmilk
(the milk sample taken after the baby comes off OR milk at the end of the
feed) . What we can't say is that one has more fat than the other.

Also, regardless of what is taught, people often practice differently.

warmly,
