I have a really complicated question :-(

I have a client whose 8 month old baby was just diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri, due to excessive spinal fluid pressure. The doctor told her that one of the causes for pseudotumor cerebri can be a high level of Vitamin A. Apparently the baby's levels were 52, when the normal range is 20-43. Mom has been taking a prenatal vitamin with 4000 IUs of Vitamin A, which she believes may be the cause (although the doctors are going to see if it has more with how the baby processes Vitamin A.) Mom is going to get her levels tested, as well as the doctor recommended testing her levels in her breast milk.

Here is my question: Does anyone know what a lactating woman's normal Vitamin A levels should be and what the normal levels in breast milk should be? Mom wants to continue breastfeeding, yet she is very scared that she caused this situation.

Thank you for any help you can offer!

warmly,
