The test for cow's milk mastitis sounds a lot like the methylene blue dye 
test (google for many science fair projects for students).  My son was the first 
one to use it on human milk and donor milk 3 years ago.  Abstract link below.  
It tests for aerobic bacterial levels, not WBC.
