I have just come back from a visit to our library and caught up on
several days posts. The night waking issue caught my attention because
at the library I had been looking through a book newly published here in
Britain. It is about how to cure sleep problems in children.
Apparently it is O.K to feed babies at night - either artificially or
breast - for the first 6 months. After that they should sleep through.
The author's remedy for breastfed babies who still wake after this age
is for Mums to express milk and Dad to feed EBM with a bottle. The milk
should gradually be diluted with water until only water is given. The
baby is then weaned from that.
According to the author we create sleep problems by continued night
feeding. Nice to know it is all our fault isn't it?
