 I tend to agree with you that to date the "risk" of infections appears to be
entirely theoretical.

 A larger concern, in my opinoin, is that the pump will not work well and mom
will not know that/ she will loose her supply over time and rather than
understanding the causality as the pump she will place blame where it isn't.

  I had a call recently about a mother who got a pump online/ told is was
"new" and when the lc checked ( fortuately she had a friend who is an ibclc)
there was "no suction" to speak of and mom was refered to someone for an
appropriate well working pump.

  What happens to the mother who does not seek assistance?
