.............here's why, ...the US has the 2nd highest infant mortality rate in the developed world (can't remember where I read that)...kinda makes you scratch your head & ponder the ACOG statement twice doesn't it?

Hospital birth in the USA today means: a better than 1 in 3 chance of major
abdominal surgery, a good chance of acquiring MRSA or C. Diff, a 1 in 2
chance of breastfeeding, a minimum of a 40% chance of having labor augmented or
induced with pitocin and an excellent chance of going home with a premature
baby (a consequence of induction). Besides getting little or no sleep and
being interrupted an average of 51 times in 12 hours by a host of strangers. (And
don't even talk about the food!)

Who wouldn't want to stay home??

Those ACOG folks as an organization seem clueless about birth, and even less
informed about babies and breastfeeding.
