OK, it's St. Louis' turn to share our activity for WBW. Those of you that
saw our poster session at ILCA know that this is our third year providing a
major community event highlighting breastfeeding. Tonight, roughly 300
families, with a total of over 700 attending, joined our Breastfeeding Task
Force for Family Night at the Zoo. We had Faye Young from LLL present her
"Humorous History of BF", and we had a panel of working moms who shared their
strategies for successful BF at work & school. While the adults were being
entertained in the auditorium, a team of school-aged gymnasts put on our own
"mini-Olympics" show, and Zoo docents provided a variety of activities about
Mommy Mammals and their babies, and why mammals are so special (because they
can BF!) Medela donated a Pump in Style that we raffled off, and we had a
total of over 30 other attendance prizes. Two of the 3 major health care
networks contributed $1000 as sponsors, as did Ameda Egnell and a local
maternity shop. Our Mistress of Ceremonies and the moderator for the panel
(both BF moms) came from our local TV station, who is also doing a feature
story on BF on their family news segment next week. Close to 30 local LCs &
health professionals volunteered their time and families to staff the event.
Even though our local newspaper screwed up the announcement about the event,
overall it all went off without a hitch.

Thanks to everyone who has shared their ideas/projects for WBW. It's
exciting to hear about so many different things being done in so many places!

And thanks for letting me brag about tonight!
