Hi, all...
I'm leaving OB nursing for awhile. My back doesn't like me anymore, and I'm
sick to death of the politics. But the hospital environment is also where I've
trained as an IBCLC and childbirth educator, and where I've practiced both,
too, in conjunction with being an OB nurse.
There's already a childbirth educator/LC in town where I live, and it's a
SMALL town. There are no needs for an IBCLC/childbirth educator anywhere locally,
either...I've checked. I'll be working full-time at my new job (an
"Ask-A-Nurse" type of deal), so I won't have a lot of free time, anyway.
What should I do to keep current? Or should I just let my certifications
lapse, and try it again if/when I go back to the hospital? I worked so HARD,
particularly for the IBCLC...but there's just no need for me here.
TIA,
Tammy in Colorado
