Our situation is the same as Kathleen describes in Australia. It is illegal
but common. Even in situations where the infant is apprehended and in foster
care the mother is encouraged to provide pumped breastmilk regardless of her
marijuana consumption. The risk of not receiving breastmilk is considered
greater than the risk of exposure to marijuana. So in summary, it is a non
issue for us.
