Hi all. I would be grateful for the collective wisdom of this savvy list
with regard to a mother who was instructed to wean for 48 hours. She had
had a substantial portion of her colon removed six years ago when her then
5-month-old son was taken off the breast temporarily and never returned to
nursing at that time, sadly. She now has a three-month-old daughter and
would hate for this scenario to replay itself. The mom had acute stomach
pain and was diagnosed with inflamed pancreas and has been injected with a
kind of iodine dye called ionomide (?)She was told by her doc that it is
not radioactive, but that it can be found in breastmilk, so to pump and
dump. I have not been able to find any info on this drug (don't have
Hale's yet, unfortunately). She is just worried that her baby will not
accept any substitute if it is necessary to follow the advised protocol,
or that she will then not go back to breast.

Thanks so much in advance.
