Dear Diane,
I have fire, theft, injury insurance through a local company that carries
insurance for the landlords of the building in which I lease. So I would
suggest getting in touch with your property manager or landlord and seeing
whom they recommend. I am a rental station also and there was no problem
with that aspect. And I did mention it. I also got malpractice insurance
through CNA, the nursing insurance company. I have to pay a bit more than
just the nursing malpractice since I am insuring my business but it was no
problem. I got that after I got the local policy and got a rider that
covers me in someone's home in case I break or damage any of their property
while in the course of business. You know, carrying that scale and you turn
and knock over a vase or hit the TV or something. Since I'm insuring the
business any employees or independent contractors I hire are covered as
well. But I did have to call around and everyone I called on my own turned
me down once they found out that I worked with babies. But I had to have
insurance to rent the office and the place the landlord recommended was only
too happy to insure me. Hope that helps,
