When Marsha wrote to all of us about her "crashed and burned" firing from her
job, I wrote to her and this group about what she would have to answer to the
question below, if she were currently rectifying like I am this next year.
No one replied so I will ask again with a little more information available.
I now have the application form in front of me and this is the direct
question:
'Have you ever been or are you currently the subject of a complaint
(including but not limited to on-the-job, before an administrative body, licensing
board, professional group, peer review panel, judge, jury, mediator,
arbitrator, or other tribunal) related to your actions, advice, performance, or
nonperformance as a breastfeeding educator, breastfeeding counselor, lactation
consultant, or health care provider, or while studying, engaging in clinical
observation, or otherwise preparing to enter one of these fields?'
The form does say if you answer yes to this question you will need to attach
a letter describing the current situation and explain the current status.
They also request a copy of any complaints.
My question is why do they want this information and could it have a negative
impact on rectification?
How many of us in this field have not had at least one of more of the above
descriptions going on at work? For some of us we feel like we are always
walking on thin ice at work.
If there are any people on LACTNET who also have some history with IBLCE
could you give me some information on this question?
Thank you,
Ann Perry RN, IBCLC
