It sounds to me like she probably had an eclamptic seizure.  It would be
interesting to know if she had some of the symptoms of pre-eclampsia
(headaches, vision changes, epigastric pain, proteinuria, edema, increased
reflexes) before she had the seizure, how far postpartum she was and was
she actually diagnosed with eclampsia?  You would think her doctor would
tell her why this happened!

Sure, eclampsia IS a big deal but birthing the baby is the treatment and
unless she has another seizure, why treat her in the first place?  And for
heaven's sake, why wean the baby!?  I agree on questioning competence on
this one-get a second opinion!
