The only reason I would be hesitant to suggest nipple shields, is that many
women here do not have the $$ to continue consultation outside of hospital
framework, and if they get hooked on nipple shields because they don't use
them properly ("only for two minutes"), then we have to worry about:
engorgement, drop in supply, baby addicted to silicone, etc etc.

How do the special breast shields for pulling out the nipple work? What is
their success rate?
What I need are solutions that I can give nurses to offer during the 16 hrs
a day when there is no LC /BFC available. Also, not every BFC takes a
course on Counseling mothers, some of them have many of the conventional
wacko ideas the nurses do.
