Annie:

 is it possible that baby too was edematous? if so than the weight loss would
be higher than "normal" ( what ever that is) this would explain the large
loss... and then while she is not gaining in leaps and bound she maybe at the
bottom range of "acceptable"...

 the most important piece is to look at the baby... happy, healthy, thriving,
walks like a duck, quacks like a duck... must be a duck!
