<This feeling of
exhaustion lasts for about a month and seems to be more than "just
feeling tired". >
As well as thyroid function and iron levels, another thought is potassium
level (this is measured when we measure electrolytes).
In the last few years I have had borderline-low potassium (along with
thyroid problems) and taking Slow K (potassium supplements) have made a huge
difference. I would say I felt tired, but actually it was muscle weakness
(this mother says she was too tired to breathe - I would get short of breath
on the phone). I now wonder if this was part of the reason I was so tired in
pregnancy and postpartum - but will never know.
Anyway, an easy test to do, and worth supplementing if on the low side. (Or
eating at least 2 bananas a day, plus apricots and protein).
