I would encourage this woman to talk with her lawyer about setting up 
some mediation with her ex and his lawyer. Hopefully the adults can 
come up with a sensible, caring plan for this child to be with his 
father and still have developmentally appropriate needs met.

Courts aren't the best medium for parenting choices.
