Hi Shannon and others,
I am also sitting the exam on Mon. I agree that there can be frustrating
points in some of the exam prep materials out there. I have found pros and
cons to each author's style. Also with photos I realize the authors may not
always have permission to use other photos so they may end us re-using the
same ones with various questions.

I have really enjoyed the Health E Learning exam prep. The forums have been
a valuable learning tool. The questions and forum are moderated by a much
respected IBCLC (Denise Fisher...can I name names here???) that has devoted
a lot of time to answering our forum questions.
A few things that I have taken away from those forums and prep exams is that
the actual exam is based on primary sources (peer reviewed research, etc)
not text books (which are a great tool to study with but are just
interpretations of primary info. When conflicting info or questions arises
you need to go the primary source and check it out yourself). Also the exam
is global so don't just think of answers in the context of US based
practices (AAP guidelines, etc). Denise has really pushed all of us in the
forums to search out primary sources of info and form our evidence based
practices from there (thanks, Denise!).

Anyhow, good luck to those of us sitting the exam on Monday!

Melissa Cole
