Good morning. I must have missed the note that Pat is responding to. I would
like to add that we prefer that subscribers *ask* the author of the message
if it is ok with them if the note is passed on.

And Pat is right....for goodness sake, take off the email address. E-mail
consults are at best, a shot in the dark, and at worst, dangerous. It is
always best for a contact to be directed to their own IBCLC locally. I often
send email contacts to [log in to unmask], for a referral to a few local IBCLCs
who can professionally handle their situation.

On Lactnet, we discuss cases, issues, medications, etc, in a limited way,
and have not had the complete person, situation, and history to consider
when making recommendations.

Thank you Pat, for your wise words.

Kathleen

Subject: Passing on information

It is fine to pass on information from Lactnet to your clients, but I'd
like to remind everyone that anything that is passed on, or printed, even
with permission, should be done so _without_ the e-mail addresses of
Lactnetters.

Mothers with breastfeeding problems need to be in contact with a local
breastfeeding specialist when being treated. By-mail consultations are not
satisfactory.
