I implore ALL of you to bookmark this page (below) and keep your eyes peeled
on the CDC website, for expected policy changes and updates on
recommendations, that the BF community will find very appealing. Individual
IBCLCs and ILCA have been working intensely with our very good BF-savvy
friends at CDC to encourage swift reviews and changes to the current
recomendations.

The one called Considerations Regarding Novel H1N1 Flu Virus in Obstetric
Settings Jul 6
has the infamous "separation" recommendation -- that we hope will soon be
officially changed.

Pregnant women and mothers of newborns CAN and SHOULD be innoculated against
the regular-old-seasonal flu, AND H1N1 (altho that vaccine won't be
available until Oct).

ILCA will have a raft of very helpful materials for docs, moms and others as
soon as CDC changes its position. Watch that space, too: www.ilca.org

If you need something immediately, you may find the excellent statement from
the Australia's New South Wales Health Ministry helpful -- it advocates
keeping mother-and-baby *together* but separating the *dyad* from others to
reduce infection risk. See:
