I recently heard from Marsh insurance. They have raised their rates for
private practice LC's. It is now $1207.00 for full-time and $514.00 for < 20
hrs per week!!!!

Royce - I could not believe what you are being asked to pay. Is it because
of where you live or that you have extremely high coverage or that you are
also covered as a doula or.? My insurance as a private practice LC is up
for renewal, with Marsh also, and the cost is $147.00 for a year for less
than 20 hours per week (that is what it has been for several years); the
coverage limits are 1,000,000/3,000,00.

Did you see the insurance company mentioned in the "December 2006/Issue 2"
newsletter from USLCA? I quote: The CM&F Group has had its program for
Professional Liability for Healthcare Professionals with the American
International Group (AIG) since 1976. AIG has consistently carried the
strongest financial ratings in the insurance industry, and is one of the
largest insurance carriers in the world.

For my state, the CM&F group quotes a premium of $103.00; everything else is
the same except the limits are a little better: 1,000,000/6,000,000. I'm
seriously thinking of switching; the premium is less, even for me, and the
$6,000,000 aggregate is twice as much.
