I was a long-time Board member of ICEA (and a member for 20 years, but no more). Another former Board member, who resigned as a consultant over this same issue, sent me the following, some of you will have seen it already.

ICEA President Cheryl Coleman's column in the latest IJCE (March 2003) makes the following statement:

"Since 1998 ICEA t has worked in collaboration with Impact Media.
to make New Parent ~ magazine available to our members for use in ..childbirth classes. This magazine has complied with the ICEA advertising guidelines and contains no. formula advertising. Many ICEA ""' members have taken advantage of this resource and distribute New Parent magazine in their classes. We have recently been informed by New Parent magazine that they will begin issuing an edition of this magazine that will contain formula advertising. Impact Media values its relationship with ICEA and wants to continue our partnership and the provision of quality materials for our class attendees. Therefore, the Impact Media management has agreed to continue to provide an ICEA edition to currently recognized ICEA members that does comply with our advertising guidelines and will not contain any formula ads. Any questions or comments that you have regarding New Parent content should be directed to New Parent Magazine , at 888/334-0988 or by email to [log in to unmask] "
