Dear Lactnet Friends:

Sue Jacoby's lovely post reminds me of the real danger in the
anti-bedsharing campaign. She wrote, "Bottom line for me, make
breastfeeding hard at night and you will reduce the amount of breastfeeding
that is done-- "

I heard a female pediatrician say, after a breastfeeding training, that she
would rather have her patients be formula-fed, than to share a bed with
their breastfeeding mother!!

A mother who is back at work, who needs her sleep, and can't breastfeed in
bed, will wean. Especially when pumping at work means MORE work during the
day.

warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, BSN, Mother of 2, MS, IBCLC, CCE, CIMI, ANLC, CKC
