Keren & others have responded to Sarah's dilemma with
wonderful suggestions.  I agree with the "move slowly
but move" camp.

When it's time to feed a bit of feminist thought
again, it may help to keep it simple and borrow
another voice.  I'd suggest Penny Van Esterik ("Beyond
the Breast-Bottle Controversy" or her essay "The
Politics of Bf" in "Bf: Biocultural Perspectives").
Her voice is more politically charged than emotional.
One thought is to offer "I was intrigued by so&so's
writing that....."  It may deflate the emotion.

Sarah, it happens I'm leading a discussion group this
morning on feminism & motherhood and so have a nifty
handout at my fingertips chockful of handy quotes on
this hot topic.  I've deleted the post with your
address but I'd be happy to send it to you if you
email me privately.
