*..Format the American Dental Association has issued its proclamation that babies should all be weaned
from the bottle OR BREAST! at one year?

In a pamphlet, that was sent by my Pediatric dentist, titled "The Pediatric Dentist: Dedicated to the Oral
Health of Children, Teens, and the Handicapped", the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry states
under their checklist for Infants and Toddlers (copyright 1996)
     Birth - 6 mo.
Clean mouth with gauze after feedings and at bedtime
Ask Ped. or Ped. dentist about flouride supplements
REGULATE FEEDING HABITS (????are they serious)

     6 - 12 mo.
First tooth should appear; time to see the ped. ddentist for an exam
begin to brush the teeth after each feeding and at bedtime with small, soft-bristled brush
Baby begins to walk; be alert to dental injuries
WEAN FROM BREAST OR BOTTLE BY FIRST BIRTHDAY (??????can you believe it)

     12 -24 mo
          ..............

My son Nathan (3 1/2) had a fairly severe case of dental caries, 17 cavities out o 20 teeth. I was
fortunate to have a dentist who did not believe that bf was the cause.
