Hi Marie -
    How old are the babies?  Is the engorgement still within what we
would consider a
reasonable length of time, or has it gone on way too long?  Have these
moms breastfed
other children or had multiple pregnancies?      I think engorgement can
increase with
number of pregnancies.  How long did you leave the cabbage on and how
many times a
day?  I'm beginning to think the cabbage compresses have not worked for
the moms I see
because I've been too conservative with length of time and times per
day.  Right now, I'm
still suggesting 20-30minutes, twice the first day, then maybe once more
the next.  This is
in addition to warm shower, electric pump, and of course, frequent
nursing.
