There's nothing as needy as a LLL Leader with a breastfeeding problem!

I've got mastitis, from thrush, which the baby and I are sharing. The baby
has it in her mouth and diaper area. I managed to convince the Dr. to give me
longer term Diflucan, as in 10 doses of 150mg. This was only after he was
gracious enough to read Dr. Hale's book which I took to the appt.! Any
suggestions on how to take the 10 doses? His method was 2 days on (1 pill per
day) and 1 day off until gone, which will run @ 2 weeks.

He also gave me a script for diflucan suspension for the baby which the
military hospital doesn't carry, so I've got to foot the bill myself, @ $35.
Does she need it?
I have no problem in buying it, if it will work.

We of course have nystatin, which hasn't worked. My next step is gentian
violet. I searched the archives and have one question. All the pharmacy
could order was the 1% solution in 10% alcohol. Do I need to dilute this
prior to painting the baby's mouth and bottom? I've already turned myself
purple, so it's too late for me!

To recap the questions:
1) How to take the 10 doses of 150mg of Difulcan
2)Should we buy the oral Difulcan for baby?
3)Can we use the gentian violet 1% in 10% alcohol or dilute it for baby?

I appreciate the info and will take any other helpful hints. Please send a
copy of replies privately as well as to the list. I used to tell moms to use
the nystatin for themselves and baby and felt comfortable with that. I've
learned a lesson here because it hasn't worked for us!
