I never heard Dr. Hale say that it would be better to formula feed.  But for a few babies the crying was extreme and it subsided when the mother was taken off of the Prozac.  And yes it makes sense to me to switch them prior to the birth if possible (but I'm not the doctor).  

I also understand that it does take 4 weeks or longer for the full affect of most SSRI's but most people will start noticing some changes within 1 week.  If you look at the active metabolite of Prozac which has a half life of 360 hours this would give plenty of time for another SSRI to start taking affect (assuming that the metabolite has a therapeutic effect) if I am understanding this even a little bit and I hope I am.
