For those of you in a hurry, I'll start with my question. I'm interested know
what non-RN (or ADA) pathways you have found to use your IBCLC.
Now for some background. I've been working with breastfeeding mothers for the
past 25 years. First as a LLLL, then as a Home Health Aide. The past 4 years
as a Diet Tech (as nutritionist in a Healthstart OB clinic). I've been IBCLC
for 4 years. I'm acknowledged, but not paid, as the clinic's Lactation
Consultant. I'm becoming quite frustrated. I know I'm not RN material. Like
I tell my patients, "I don't do blood or urine" I couldn't take the algebra
or chemistry in RN or ADA courses. I've just begun a Human Services BA
specializing in Health & Nutrition. The Intro to Biology is enough science
for my little brain. I don't know if this with will get me anywhere, but I
need to do SOMETHING. My goal has always been to work as a Lactation
Consultant. I'm totally frustrated at this point. What have some of you
done? Any suggestions welcome. E-Mail me privately. Currently nomail.
