This may seem like a silly request but I need to clarify something and can't
find a reference to back it up.
I have always described to parents that normal breastfed stools are loose,
yellow and seedy, with slight variations to these adjectives.  To identify
diarrhea I tell them that the color is their best indicator.  Diarrhea stools
are green.
When I tried to look this up in Lawrence and Riordan/Auerbach there were no
descriptions.  In the LLLI Answer Book they did cover this but mostly in
relation to foremilk/hindmilk imbalance.
This came up with a readmission on a 12 day old baby with Reflux and apnea.
The mother described green stools for the past 2 days but everyone told her
these are normal breastfed stools.
Am I wrong on this one?  If I am then how would you describe a diarrhea stool
in a breastfed baby?
