Lamaze International is making a big stand as of January 2001. The decision
has been made to back the WHO code on marketing of Breastmilk subs.  They
are pulling all bottle, nipple, pacifier ads from their publications. ABMs
have been out for some time. This is a big step.  My Perinatal Education
Team is moving to get rid of all such handout material too. This is great!
Do you know the impact this first step will have. People are making a
stand. I want to leap for joy. Progress is good. I am sure we hold this all
in the palm of our hands. Why are we so hesitant? We are intellectual,
consumer oriented, consumer loved, strong and united in numbers, We are
spiritual, emotional and passionate. We are facilitators of consumer
decision making and non-controlling. I am so proud of people who make a
firm stand. Thank you Lamaze International.
I sit here in Indiana Pa with a smile on my face. I have always used the
childbirth code of ethics and Lactation Consultants Standard of Practice in
my work. When someone doesn't like what I say or do - I am only doing my
job. Lamaze has made another thing a little easier.
