In our NICU the full term or almost term babies were put to breast as soon as
possible. Our neo's philosophy was that as long as the IV was in and
breastfeeding was progressing as it should there was no need to supplement.
Cluster feeds were allowed. He many times would leave the IV in a bit longer
when the baby was either having trouble latching or was lagging in interest
