Belinda gave a great website to us. I have for years wished I could be
privy to the breastfeeding after reduction email list's wisdom by experience
but it was a private list for moms dealing with the issue. I looked at the
site Belinda mentioned and found there is a book being worked on. They also
share several stories of "should I or shouldn't I". In the links section
they list another page http://www.bfar.com/basics.html, which is full of
resources. These ladies have really opened up a lot of shared information
to the rest of us while maintaining the privacy of their support group.
A search of Lactnet archives will turn up a lot as well. I have had
unexpected results in clients including one highly motivated mom who took
the time to educate herself on the issues prenatally and went on to
breastfed exclusively for 6 months despite the free nipple grafting
mentioned by Barbara. Others, with the inferior pedicle, have had mixed
success. I agree, go into lactation doing everything "normally" but watch
the baby closely and be ready to supplement if needed.
Carla
