I wrote two weeks ago about a 4 1/2 month old who has been refusing to nurse
in a consistent fashion for about a month now. Mom does *not* want to give
up, however the constant stress and strain of wondering if baby will feed or
scream (actively fight the breast) is really taking its toll on her. Mom
will pump milk and give in a bottle as a last resort if baby refuses to
breastfeed, which he drinks. Baby did not get bottles before this. When she
does this she has no supply problems. We have discussed overactive let-down,
drugs(none), the pill (no), baby's ears, UTI. She has ruled out pregnancy.

Mom uses every method known on earth to try to get this babe to feed at the
breast. (Well, maybe *someone* can come up with something new?) Could reflux
cause baby to refuse feeds? If so, how is it diagnosed? What could be going
on here? I'm stumped!

Thanks!
Bracha Haskel (If I keep posting at this rate I won't be a lurker any
more!)
