Hi Arly,
I use an Olympus Camedia C4040 zoom digital camera. It has a macro and
spot metering mode, which allow me to get great closeups despite the
camera's only having 3x optical zoom. The spot metering allows the
picture to not be washed out by the flash, very important when doing
closeup photography. They have a new model called C5050 (I think) that
has some enhancements in the autofocus system and more megapixels. I am
waiting until they have more video frames per second (I think mine does
15, which is enough for short suck or latch videos) and reduced shutter
release lag before I upgrade. Shutter release lag is the worst problem
with digital cameras for use in photographing infant oral anatomy- you
see what you want to photograph, you push the button, and by the time
the camera shoots the picture, the baby's tongue is in the way! I'm
learning how to time it, by shooting a second before what I want to see
is in view, and that is working out. I still use my old Canon EOS A2E
35mm film camera and macro lens if there is something really, really
interesting, but I no longer lug it around as a matter of course.
