The stories abouta moms not being allowed to nurse in the same
daycare where their child is being cared for, and the idea that it
is better for the government to support caring for a baby by an
oussider so mom can earn less (usually) than the cost of infant
care, reminds me of a cartoon from years back.
A woman is working in a day care and an observer notes how
especially affectionate a couple of the children are.  She reports
that these are her housekeeper's children and that the housekeeper
is at her home caring for her children so she can be "gainfully
employed"!  So, apparantly, if you care for someone else's kids, you
are a productive member of society, but if you care for your own you
are not productive.  In other words "just a mom".  Sure doesn't make
sense to me!
