I have been seen many large, happy, breastfed babies in my support groups
through the years. Sometimes it is especially surprising because Mom is this
petite little thing! I have been able to follow many of these babies past
toddlerhood and I haven't seen one that is obese! Not a single one! Usually once
they start crawling and walking they slim down very quickly! Maybe this moms
needs another Pediatrician's opinion? I had a family who had very petite
babies, the Ped was insisting mom use formula (she never did) because her first
baby was never in the 50th percentile. Well, Mom and Dad have never been in the
50th percentile either! They are petite people, so how on earth is the baby
suppose to do something it doesn't look genetically as if it is probable? I
hope this mom can find a support group where she will hear other mothers who
have had similar experiences.
