PTP...mother is a nurse working in a hospital. She has a four month
old daughter who is exclusively breastfeeding. Mother was caring for a
patient (normal nursing duties) who was diagnosed with c. diff today.
Before the labs results came back positive for c. diff, the mother
(RN) was not using contact precautions when caring for this patient.
During that time she took a break and pumped. She is concerned her
milk or the pumping kit she uses could be contaminated. Of course,
before contact precautions were ordered on this patient, she used
normal hygienic precautions when caring for this patient (normal hand
washing or sanitizing, wearing gloves in contact with bodily fluids,
etc.). Any thoughts? She is considering dumping the milk she pumped
before she was ordered to use contact precautions.

Thank you!
