I just spent 45 minutes reading all the responses to Sunday's
article and I am pleasantly flabbergasted! Out of 138 postings
barely a handful were negative (I didn't keep an exact count). I
had anticipated a higher percentage of the "this is obscene" or "I
bottlefed and my kids are fine" responses. However, the vast
majority were from moms who were so thankful their actions were
veing validated. They all seemed so eager to relate their stories.
In addition, there were some very supportive comments from dads
about their children nursing beyond babyhood and being allowed to
self-wean.
Are the closet supporters of child-led weaning so much more
prevalent than I would have guessed, or are those against the idea
just passing over the article and the chance to respond?
If you haven't read the article AND the responses, I encourage you
to do so. It will really make your day! I don't have the address
at easy access, but if you missed it, it's in the archives, May Week
1 under the title "Link to NY Times Article" (I think that's the
wording-at least the first word is link).
