Dear Marianne:

Well, it does say "hold your baby behind the neck and *shoulders*" which doesn't strike me as bad, since it counteracts a new mother's tendency is to hold the baby's head in an effort to make the mouth go to a particular place. 

We've had Lactnet discussions about the cross-cradle/transitional hold, and also how useful it is to teach a structured approach to latch, with a checklist.  But cross-cradle works well for many new mothers (though I always show how to ease out to a cradle hold once the baby is on comfortably), and this brief description, along with the pictures of a nice assymetrical approach (and such happy-looking mothers!) seems as good as any.

Glad you liked it. Yes, we're both taking it on faith that, for instance, the Hmong text says exactly what we'd say. :-)

This is indeed easy to understand.
I took the English version, as I'm quite rusty on the other languages... 
hahaha!
What I noticed, is the remark about the hand in the neck, which is 
illustrated in the pictures.
What do other people think of this...? There seems to be quite some pressure 
in the neck, which is something we do not recommend, do we...?
Especially because the text is so compact, every word has extra weight and 
in a short text it is harder to explain the details of the risks of 
pressure.
Any thoughts on this...?
