Good evening Lactnetters,

I have a patient who has had a prolactinoma for over 15 years. She is on her
3rd child but 1st one to breastfeed and love the BF relationship she has
with her now 13 m/o daughter. A trip to the endocrinologist marked her
prolactin levels at over 150. She's been battling with mastitis and plugged
ducts. In the past she's kept her prolactin levels under control by taking
Bromocriptine or Cabergoline. Hale doesn't have a rating for it in
Medications & Mother's Milk because it is a dopamine agonist. She'd like to
know if A) can she take this and continue to BF B) Are there ramifications
to her daughter if she does take while BF.

I searched the archives and didn't find anything related to BF while taking
the drug. Any help would be wonderful!

Thanks,

Veronica Tingzon, IBCLC
Oceanside CA
