Hi Terri,

I've had numerous complaints of the deep pain, also described as
burning or shooting pains. I ask mothers if it could be the sensation
of the breast filling up between feedings. I ask them to pay attention
to the pain and frequently they come back and say that they do think
it is the breast filling up.

It generally doesn't last long term. Since baby is 6 weeks old, I
would speculate that baby went through a growth spurt, nursed very
frequently and mother's breasts have been emptied regularly. She may
be feeling some milk being made. I have definitely found some mothers
find this sensation to be painful at times.

Hope that helps.
