One idea I have heard (from Peter Hartmann for one, but I imagine
others have said this too) is that mums who need IVF to conceive
their babies are at higher risk for lactation 'abnormalities' just
because nature didn't intend them to reproduce (something being not
quite 'normal'). I suppose it depends on the reason for the IVF. If
it was hormonal, then this is more likely to impact lactation as well
as ovulation and natural conception. Just as we intervene to assist
conception, we may need to intervene to assist feeding the baby.
