Virginia, I would guess that there may be quite a few cases where toothpaste
from a toddler's mouth could irritate his mother's nipples!  I, for one, can
only use toothpaste once a day, without having the inside of my mouth start
to get irritated, sometimes to the point of peeling.  I think this type of
thing is really important to keep in mind.  Babies are often weaned (or
mother just goes on dealing with nipple problems) because some problem that
would be extremely simple to fix is not identified.
