Oh wise ones, I thought you might have an idea of where I could start
looking for what I'm looking for:

My mother is doing a nutrition course, and has decided to do the final
essay on "is human milk better for babies than formula?". However, she
is fairly internet-wary (hates it!) and is having a hard time finding
things she wants to find online.

She is particularily looking for the exact texts for a few of the
clinical studies that are referenced in the book "Milk, Money and
Madness" by Naomi Baumslag MD & Dia L. Michels. The one she mentioned
to me was one about intelligence being "higher" in bf babies
(Wiessingerized: "lower" in artificially-fed babies ;-)), which she
said had as a reference something in the Lancet. She says the only
place she can find such a reference online (or so it says) asks for
money to get to it...which she does not want to get into (she'd rather
get to the library!). Does anyone know where this kind of text could be
found? I think there is also a study by Jeliffe and Jeliffe (sp?) which
she is interested in reading the exact text for.

I believe that I've read somewhere that the study about intelligence was
done on pre-term babies being tube-fed (or at least, not at the breast)
breastmilk or substitute, that the study was corrected for things like
age, maternal education, etc., and that it was a fairly large
number...but I am not sure of this, and of course don't have the text
myself. She wants to see the texts of these studies for this reason:
to be able to say in her essay that they are "reputable" or not. I.e.
done in a professional way.

If anyone knows where these could be found online, without paying money
(!), could they please let me know where?

Thanks!

Fio.
