Beth,
I would suggest going to La Leche League's website and looking under
either "Breastfeeding and the Law" or "Legal Issues" (I don't have
the site handy here snd I don't remember the subject headings
exactly).  Also check the archives over the past several months on
"extendee breastfeeding".
I have an interesting appointment coming in today.  Mom called
concerned that her ex is insisting that their 9 month old start
staying with him overnight, but baby still nurses to sleep and at
times during the night.  Both she and the ex are coming in and my
aim is to discuss baby's needs and development without taking sides
between mom and dad and maybe even to get them to explore alternate
means of trying to meet everyone's needs.  I think the fact that the
dad was willing to come in and talk is hopeful that he may be open
to understanding baby's needs and not push her/him to mature faster
than ready.  It should be interesting.  I just pray that one or the
other (most likely mom) doesn't ask me if I'll testify at a
hearing.  I know some LCs have done that, but I'd rather stay away
from that.
