The problem is merely indicative of the whole societal attitude that bottles
are a normal part of being a baby. Pictures of bottles are then used to
identify anything relating to babies such as greeting cards and gift paper,
places with changing tables (although this is less than in the past) and
even newspaper articles about babies even when feeding is never referred to
in the article. This child is merely reflecting the world around her
(him?). Alternate suggestions are great, but it might be a little much to
expect this one child to take on the burden of changing society's attitude
with just 2 or 3 days left before Halloween! Realistically, how many
present or future moms on this child's "route" will be swayed toward bottle
feeding by seeing this "baby" carrying a bottle? Yes, suggest alternatives,
but let's keep concentrating on how to change society's overall perception
so that this isn't an issue in future years.
